wow, i made this SO long ago! I made it for when we get to Japan to try to share pictures and keep in touch with everyone. I know I know, theres facebook, but i cant write as much on facebook, so this gives a bit more detail...
HERE WE GO!
so far, we both really like it! It's A LOT different from the states, but thats what makes it fun right? We're both really looking forward to experience everything! We want to try all the food we can (well, I'm not going to try to seafood, because i hate it) and travel as much as we can, and just take advantage of everything Japan has to offer! because whether we like it or not, we're here for 4 years so we're going to make the best of it!
Our hotel room is pretty decent, there's a kitchen and a bedroom, a living room, a really neat bathroom with a super deep tub. PERFECT for taking baths :) the sink is really deep too. Maybe thats a normal thing here? Who knows. It seems like we're going to have to make this hotel room as much like home as we can, it seems like we're going to be here awhile. The housing office here, from what everyone says is NOT organized what-so-ever. and we're definitely finding that out ourselves. Here's how it works.. They have Garden homes, which are kind of like duplex style houses. these are the only houses that dogs can live in. Then, they have towers. which are apartments, that look like towers. (Go figure) and no dogs are aloud in there. However, they have a tower thats called a "Cat tower" and only cats are aloud in there..well, when we first got here they offered us a tower. obviously we had to deny it because we have dogs. and there is NO way we're getting rid of them. they are our kids. its hard enough not being with them right now. and I guess since we denied the tower, we have to pay for the hotel that were staying in, out of pocket. we get NO TLF. (temporary lodging) because we turned one down. that erks me so bad, because they offered us something that they KNOW we can't live in! and if we move into a tower until a garden house is available we lose our spot on the waiting list and we go to the very bottom again. this whole process is just effed up!! oh well, I'm trying to stay calm. everything will be figured out eventually, and everything will be okay in the end. if not, its not the end. :)
I've made a few friends. and I'm pretty excited about it. I've made more friends here in a week, then i did the WHOLE time i was in Valdosta. so its really nice. I've heard that the friends you meet at overseas bases are like lifetime friends. so I'm really excited to meet some actual friends, and making memories! I'm sure it makes it easier on Ben, not only because the girls i make friends with, obviously have husbands and he can be friends with them, but also because he's not hearing me complain so much that I have no friends where we're at! haha
Im going to take pictures of our hotel, and add some pictures from our Japan trip, probably tomorrow. so check back! :)
